Dumaguete City, just like Baguio City, is becoming one of my favorite food tour destinations. We literally ate from morning until midnight, hopping from place to another.
After trying fried ice cream at Panda Ice Cream Haus, we wanted to try next the street foods along the boulevard, or locally known as “tempurahan”. However, the rain poured really hard, so we decided to stay at Jo’s Chicken Inato for awhile. While waiting, the smell of grilled chicken made us hungry, and so we went up and decided to have dinner at Jo’s instead.
Way back in 2009, I used to eat at Jo’s Chicken Inato in their Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro branches in between my business trips. I find their food affordable. Even before the onslaught of Mang Inasal, Chicboy, and the like in the metro, inasal houses like Jo’s already exist in the southern parts of the country. I regret not having able to take photos of those earlier, like Chicken Ati-Atihan in Ozamis and Iligan, Dear Manok in Cagayan de Oro and a lot more!
Anyways, back to Jo’s, we went up to the al fresco dining area and chose a table at the corner. The interiors are reminiscent of ancestral houses, with capiz sliding doors and wood furniture.

Looking at Jo’s menu reminded me of how good their Buko Halo-Halo was.
The prices as I have mentioned are so affordable.
Hubby ordered Chicken Inato. The chicken is tender and tasty. So good!
I ordered a sinful Chicken Skin chicharon. Oh my! Now I really miss travelling in Iloilo, CDO, Iligan and Ozamis! I remember back then, I and my officemate usually orders one serving each and pairs this with rice! Yeah, sinful. I know, right?
Akisha, perhaps the youngest foodie at her age, approves Jo’s Chicken Skin chicharon. Kudos!
So after that sinful dinner at Jo’s, and when the rained stopped pouring already, we walked to the boulevard and saw the “tempurahan”. But we’re too full by then, so we skipped this.
